This past weekend, our team had the immense pleasure of volunteering at the annual Fall Folk Arts Festival! We weren't the hosts, but we were proud to be part of the dedicated crew that helped this incredible celebration of history, tradition, and craft thrive.
With over 2,000 visitors attending across the two days, the festival was a huge success, and it took thousands of volunteer hours to make it happen. We were thrilled to roll up our sleeves and contribute to the effort!
Our Roles: Bringing History and Logistics Together
Volunteering at the Folk Arts Festival meant stepping into a variety of roles—each one vital to the visitor experience. It was a fast-paced, rewarding couple of days where we saw firsthand how much work goes into a successful community event.
Here's a look at what we accomplished:
Historic Reenactments: We got to work alongside the interpreters, helping to guide visitors through the demonstrations and historical areas. It was satisfying to help people connect with the past and learn about traditional crafts.
Animal Introductions: We assisted in introducing some of the farm animals, sharing facts and ensuring gentle, safe interactions between the animals and the many families who came out.
Visitor Navigation: We served as friendly guides, helping thousands of people find their way to specific artisans, food vendors, and folk music stages. Keeping 2,000 people moving smoothly requires a lot of clear directions!
Parking Management: The logistics of a large event start the moment visitors arrive. We helped direct traffic and guide cars into parking areas, setting a positive, smooth tone for their entire day.
Whether it was providing directions or helping set the scene for a historic demo, every task was a chance to connect with the community and support the arts.

A Meaningful Contribution
The best part of volunteering was seeing the festival through the eyes of the attendees—the pure delight on a child's face seeing an animal, or the focused interest of someone watching a traditional craft demonstration.
We are so proud to have been part of the team that supported the Fall Folk Arts Festival. It was a reminder that strong community events rely on dedicated volunteers. We can’t wait to sign up again next year!
